Rubbermaid Receives Top Honors In 10th Annual Smallwares & Tabletop Competition From Foodservice Equipment Reports

Safety Storage Bin and EasyWash™ Mechanical Scale with QuickStop™ Gain Industry Recognition for Innovative Product Design

Huntersville, N.C. (September 5, 2007) - Rubbermaid Commercial Products, the leader in innovative safety and productivity solutions for the foodservice industry, received award-winning recognition for innovative product design during Foodservice Equipment Reports' 10th Annual Smallwares & Tabletop Competition held Wednesday, July 18, at the publication's headquarters in Skokie, Ill. Two RCP products were named winners in the smallwares category: RCP's Safety Storage Bin and Pelouze® brand EasyWash™ mechanical scale with QuickStop™.

Products entered into the competition are reviewed based on several different product characteristics, including, unique or innovative attributes, ability to improve food or labor safety, durability and applicability in commercial operations. A competition coordinator oversees the judging of all products, and this year, the panel of judges consisted of three representatives from national foodservice distributor leaders: Boelter Cos., Edward Don Co. and Wasserstrom Co., as well as three long-time chef operators. 

"Positive feedback from panel judges praised Rubbermaid's product design ingenuity, specifically the effectiveness of both products to solve the needs of commercial kitchen operators," said Janice Cha, competition coordinator and senior editor of Foodservice Equipment Reports. "We were impressed with the intuitive shape and ease-of-use of the storage bin, along with the quickness and accuracy of the QuickStop scale."

RCP's Safety Storage Bin comes in two new smaller sizes of 100- and 200-cup capacities. Both offer dual position lids promoting one-handed operation and include an integrated Safety Portioning Scoop. The patent pending dual position lids allow for stackable units, as well as placement flexibility within commercial kitchens.

RCP’s Pelouze brand EasyWash mechanical scale with QuickStop is the industry’s first-ever, 100 percent dishwasher safe foodservice scale. The QuickStop feature stops the measurement indicator quickly and accurately allowing for faster prep and service time for operators.
